Services

Rule #1: I know that new authors do not have a big budget: Costs must be reasonable.

YOU WILL KNOW ALL COSTS AHEAD OF TIME

All work is pre-negotiated with all specifications written in the contract. That way you have no surprises. Monthly payment plans are also available at ZERO interest!

  • Traps: This is a FREE service that will clue you in to the many pitfalls of using publishers, and the offers that you will encounter. It is essential that you understand the ground rules before doing anything. Sadly, there is no magic! But there are hidden costs and traps to should know about.
  • Story critique and development: I work with you to refine and develop your story, show you the pitfalls, what needs to be strengthened, so you can revise it accordingly. We can do this piecemeal, with a small fee each time, or a set fee for unlimited reviews of your story.
  • Editing & proofing: Both are usually very expensive using outside services. I recommend that no matter your budget, your final copy should be proofed independently to catch the small errors that often slip by. Editing and proofing along the way can be done at a lower cost, and in addition I will show you tips and tricks you can do to achieve a near professional result through a variety of resources.
  • Cover design: Professional cover for eBooks, or a spread for print books (paperback, hardcover or hardcover with jacket.) Costs are based on time which is based on complexity of your design idea (if you have one).
  • Layout: Your manuscript will be professionally formatted for all digital and print formats. I work with you to refine the look you want. Cost estimate given is binding and you will not incur any added costs.
  • ISBN: This is the identifying number used in publishing across all platforms to identify your book. We do not recommend using the free ISBN provided by Amazon because it will not allow your book to be purchased through outside bookstores, and identifies your book as an Amazon product which many indie retailers despise. You can secure your own ISBN which requires you to purchase a block of 10 numbers to be cost effective, or you can use one of our numbers. We do not charge for this if we are working with you in any service.
  • Marketing: There are many levels of marketing available. Most publishers offer a basic social media marketing that alone is not effective. There are effective ways to market your book. I offer two services here. One is to do it for you. The other is to teach you what to do and you do it yourself. I recommend the latter—it is always better to learn to do things yourself.
  • Publicity: I do not offer publicity, however I will happily refer you to publicists that can help you at a reasonable rate, if you wish to go that way.
  • Custom: Anything not covered here. I enjoy developing custom plans for authors. I enjoy the working relationship and delight in your successes.

But unlike MOST publishing assist companies, I will not make you poor, will not lock you into insane contracts, and you WILL get far more value than you will ever pay.
