“Even if this is your first Rex Dalton thriller (and, it won’t be your last), the author gives a short back story of the various characters, bringing you up to speed in no time. All of the characters are realistic and three dimensional. My favorite character, after Rex, is Digger, the Australian shepherd he inherited following the death of a good friend. Digger is extremely talented and easily figures out how to act when Rex and Catia are undercover. He is known for his smiles, which can be quite charming or quite horrifying, depending on his feelings toward you. I won’t summarize the plot, since other reviewers have done it so well. I will say that this is a book you will not want to put down. The action becomes quite intense at times, but is never gory nor gruesome. There were a few parts that were rather unsettling because the book deals with the horrible crime of child sex trafficking. Rex learns that those in authority turn a blind eye to this crime, and often are criminally involved themselves. The author is not afraid to write about current issues and to bring them out of the shadows. Humor is thrown in as the characters joke with one another, and then you will be back on the edge of your seat. I highly recommend this book, and the entire series, to anyone who enjoys a good thriller with intelligent characters and a well planned and executed plot. I don’t know how he does it, but this author continually manages to surpass the previous books in this series.”
