THEME: A fictionalized story from a current event.
•Any genre. Maximum word count 7,000. We’re looking for tightly written tales with evocative imagery, well-constructed and creative. Wow us!
[Note: Don’t just rehash a current event. Take it and twist it into something new and fresh. ANY GENRE. We want to see creative writing at its best. Example: Ukrainian conflict becomes mirrored as a family conflict over personal property that goes ugly.]
•Entries must be original and previously unpublished.
•Simultaneous submissions are allowed, however, we ask that you notify us if your story is published elsewhere prior to publication in Books ‘N Pieces if you are selected as a winner.
•International entries are welcome. Work must be submitted in English only.
•Entries must minimize violence or sexual elements (family publication folks) and may not infringe upon the rights and liberties of any groups, individuals, businesses, etc.
• Small Entry Fee $7 to cover costs. Late entry fee $10 after April 15, 2022
•Friends and family of Books ‘N Pieces Magazine are not eligible for consideration of prizes.
